The bill of costs is a detailed description of the work performed based on the applicable scale costs. Such as when the bill is drafted for the purpose of legal costs recovery from another party, when charging an hourly rate, or when the bill is prepared upon the client’s request or for purpose of costs review between solicitor and client.

The bill of costs is a reflection of a file management by a solicitor and legal work performed during retainer. Please note, these are separate items in the bill of costs. 

The amount of Drawing and Engrossing of the legal costs forms part of the bill of costs and adds to the quantum of the legal costs sought.
